McKenna Gilbert is a freshman at Whitworth University, currently planning to major in Elementary Education and Spanish. She hopes to teach English in Spanish speaking third-world countries for a few years after college before settling down and beginning a career as a teacher in the United States. She is the oldest of four kids, the only girl, and she absolutely adores her family. MeKenna enjoys journaling, playing piano, laughing, and spending time with the people she loves.
In this interview, McKenna talks about how she came to the realization that everyone battles insecurity. She shares her insights about being “new” somewhere, whether that’s at college, a new job or in a new city. And she offers some wisdom for pointing that young woman or girl in your life toward the passion that makes her light up.
I was initially drawn to McKenna because of her passion for young girls to know their inner beauty, and even at the age of 18, I feel like she has much to offer all of us in remembering our identity in Christ. This was a fun interview for me; I hope you enjoy it!
