The Devoted Dreamers Podcast

Whether you have a dream in your heart or aren’t sure what God might be calling you to, The Devoted Dreamers Podcast will encourage you on the journey. This space is dedicated to sharing stories every week of women who are following Jesus and pursuing their God-given gifts in beautifully imperfect ways. You’ll hear about the fears and challenges that threaten their dreams as well as the joy, courage and confidence that comes from following Jesus even in the unexpected…especially in the unexpected.

I’m your host, Merritt Onsa, and my prayer is that this show will meet you where you are in your walk with God. I hope you will come away from the podcast each week with encouragement to begin pursuing your own dreams even when you still feel flawed, imperfect, unfinished and not ready. Because if you wait until you are perfect, you will never take the first step. Join us!

Jess Connolly is passionate to communicate about Jesus. Whether that's through writing, speaking, or having a coffee date -- she loves spurring other women on and wants to leave her generation more in awe of God than she found it. She's one of the co-founders of SheReadsTruth, one of the owners of Amen Paper Company, co-author of USA Today Best Seller "Wild and Free," and the co-founder of The Influence Conference and Network. She lives in Charleston, South Carolina where she and her husband have planted Gospel Community Church.

In this interview, Jess talks about seeing herself as more of a developer than a dreamer and how God has used that characteristic for His purposes. She shares about the church-planting journey she and her husband, Nick, have been on for the last 11 years and how, for a time, that was a sore spot in their marriage. Today, this is where her focus lies – in really digging in to support him and the church – and she talks about what that looks like for them and their relationship.

I love what Jess had to say about finding and building community before you run after your dreams and what that has looked like for her as a church planter’s wife and a public figure. We also discuss her new book on holiness called “Dance Stand Run,” which is coming out in October 2017.

I know you’ll love hearing from Jess. My apologies for the sound-quality on this one – stay tuned, I’m certain we’ll have the issues fixed by Episode 36!
